Veeam Backup / VCC Replication - Oracle Database Appliance

Post by Matt.Sharpe »

Hi Guys,

Just wanting to confirm if Veeam can backup Oracle Database appliance(s) using Backup AND Replication to a Cloud Connect provider in an application consistent manner?

I've not done any Oracle specific work before so curious if there are any limitations with backup / replication?

I'm aware Oracle guest processing is available. So my hunch is that it's possible.

It would be a fully virtualized Oracle appliance setup.

Thanks

Matt

Correct, depending on type of deployment, it should be possible either via scripts or via in-guest VSS processing. By the way, Cloud Connect does not affect backup server ability to process VMs in application consistent manner. Thanks.

Hi Vladimir,

I've been informed the machines are running separate to vCenter in Oracles own hypervisor. This would therefore mean it's only possible with the use of Veeam Agent for Linux?

Thanks

Yep, though, you will be able to control agent deployment and agent backup job from backup server (thanks be to Agent Management functionality brought you by Update 3).

As to application consistency with this approach, kindly, check this thread.

Thanks.
