Backup Copy GFS Query

Post by Matt.Sharpe »

Hi Guys,

Hoping you can clear something up for me.

With Backup Copy GFS retention policies. I've got a job configured to keep 2 restore points but a high value of Monthly Archive.

The chain seems to grow to 30+ retention points rather than the 2 configured. Does this mean if I kept weekly archives it would keep less increments? Does this also mean if I only kept quarterly / yearly GFS archives it would keep 100+ retention points?

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt, could you please clarify what GFS settings does this job have and what files are currently stored in repository?

Hi Alex,

The backup copy job is set to keep 40+ monthly restore points. The job has successfully archived 7+ months worth as it's been running a while. The restore points to keep on disk is only set to 2. However there are actively around 30 restore points kept on disk + the archive files

Hi Matt,

That's not expected behavior with the said settings.
Please contact our support team and let them take a closer look, also share the case id number here, so we can track it internally. Thanks!

I'd also check the backup properties for the number of actually available restore points, some of the restore points on disk could be incomplete.
