Enhancement request: Check time job running

Post by em-robilly »

Hello,

we had an issue about 1 month ago (probably on storage side) but we haven't backed up the VMs for about 1 month because the daily report told us that no errors was detected.
The job was running and stuck at 96% and then the report didn't report any error.

There is a possibility to check if a job is running more than X time/days?

We realized only because we have open the veeam console for another operation....and fortunally we don't have need to restore anything...
I think this is quite serious and it's really simple to implement

Thanks,

Roberto

Do you have Veeam ONE deployed? If so, you can leverage one of its alarms (max allowed job duration, for instance). Thanks.

In this case you might want to create a PS script that will check duration of currently running jobs and stop those that exceed defined window.

Otherwise, you can set up a backup window for a job, so that it doesn't run more than X hours.

Thanks.

After the backup window the backup will be killed?
Because in this case I've stopped the job but the only way to really stop the job was to stop veeam processes..

There is no the possibility to add it to the daily report?

Thanks!

If you enable "terminate job" option, it will.

Hmm, if you managed to stop the job only by killing corresponding processes, then, something must have gone wrong. It might be worth logging support case next time the problem reoccurs.

Terminated job will have "failed" state and will be included in the daily report.

Thanks.
