Oracle RMAN Support
Hi,
I understand that V10 will include fuller integration with Oracle RMAN. Now that many of the v10 features are going to be released as updates to the current version when is the RMAN support likely to be released?
Regards,
Gareth

Dear Anton,
Please clarify the current status of support Oracle DB backup by Veeam BR. According this article, dated by 2016 (https://www.veeam.com/oracle-backup-rec ... lorer.html) Veeam already support:
Many thanks for explanation.

What is 'more full level integration" you talking about which will be available? I've also heard about native RMAN support at VeeamON Forum 2017.As a result, Veeam Backup & Replication™ provides reliable, agentless, image-level backup for Oracle databases that run any supported operating system and hypervisor, with transaction log backup and replay capability so that you can restore your Oracle database to a precise point in time — even to a specific transaction.
Many thanks for explanation.

Re: Oracle RMAN Support
Our current integration is OCI-based (Oracle Command-line Interface) and is fully automated aka It Just Works - ideal for shops without dedicated Oracle admins/expertise.
The upcoming RMAN plug-in is an alternative for shops with dedicated Oracle admins, who usually prefer to do their backups and restores through RMAN, but still want those backups sitting in a Veeam repository and registered in the Veeam UI as valid database restore points.
Neither integration is technically superior or "more full" for virtualized Oracle, it is just different approaches of achieving the same results (targeted at different "internal buyers"). Veeam Explorer for Oracle will support both types of backups.

Re: Oracle RMAN Support
With the upcoming update, will you also support physical clusters? (Oracle Failsafe)
Mines an active/passive cluster (10 day rule Oracle), so cluster aware isn't really that important, cause it's always running on the same node.
But as beeing part of a cluster, I wonder if I can even make a backup?
Currently using another product for this(which i'd like to see replaced with Veeam agents).
Kind Regards,
Bjorn

Re: Oracle RMAN Support
Yes, RMAN supports all possible Oracle deployments including RAC, CDB, physical ASM and all that fancy enterprise stuff. And we will ship our RMAN plug-in for both Windows and Linux, so you're covered. Thanks!

Re: Oracle RMAN Support
Is the RMAN plug-in for VMs only or would it work with the Agent for Windows / Linux for physical Oracle RAC?

Re: Oracle RMAN Support
1) Is RMAN Catalog support in VEEAM still going to be part of the Version 10 VEEAM release?
2) When will RMAN Catalog support (plugin or whatever) be available?
Looking at all the forum history it would be this year, which is now half over.
Thanks

Hi,
We are currently making a POC with different backup software product.
One of our key choice is RMAN integration with Veeam.
Any release date for this update 4 ?
Any beta program ?

Re: Oracle RMAN Support
Those are our latest estimations regarding Update 4 release date:
Thanks.
As to beta program, kindly, ask your local SE team, chances are, they can have you on board.Gostev wrote:Anyway, this does mean that now we have no choice but to make Update 4 the release vehicle for Windows Server 2019 support, thus delaying U4 release slightly. However, I don't expect the slippage to be significant, as from R&D perspective we've of course already been looking at the Insider builds in the past months. One significant chunk of work Windows Server 2019 does add though is the additional platform to do the regression testing on – this is obviously not something that can be absorbed seamlessly. Having said that, we will do everything we can to still deliver U4 in 2018.
Thanks.

Sorry, my words were not enough.
Which edition of Veeam?
Or do we need additional new license of Veeam?

Re: Oracle RMAN Support
If a VM , then it needs to be protected with Backup & Replication Enterprise Plus v9.5 update 4
If you have a physical Server you need as well Backup & Replication Enterprise Plus v9.5 Update 4 and a Veeam Agent for Windows Server Edition for the physical Server.
In both situations the Oracle RMAN Plug-In is covered by this license.

Hello. Is there any updated release schedule for RMAN support? It's been "coming" now for a while.
Thanks!
