Veeam B&R Success messages for failures
We are receiving "successful backup" messages when in fact no data has been transferred.
one instance is where a trial licence has expired and we are still receiving a "Job Success" message although no data has been transferred.
the other instance is where a Cloud Copy failed and had to be recreated.
We continued to receive "Job success" messages although no data was copied.
It was 76 days before we discovered this by accident.
Not very good when there are only 30 Restore points.
It would be preferable if the jobs completed with warnings "no data Copied"
Case ref 02656254
Would be interested to hear what others think.
Thanks

Hi Clive,
Yes, your point makes sense, as this message might be misunderstood by the backup admin. Maybe our pre-defined backup copy job report (from Veeam ONE) would allow you track these situations better? Using this report you should see how much data was transferred and allow you to understand what was happening with the backup copy job.
Thanks!

Hi Vitaly
The Veeam ONE report may contain the information you describe, but when checking through 300+ e-mails daily it would be preferable to have a heads-up on the "subject line" that further investigation is needed when the details in Veeam ONE would become useful.
thanks

I agree, but would it be more convenient to review one report/one email vs. 300+ emails daily? Thanks for your feedback anyway, I will bring this up when this topic is going to be discussed internally.

Hi Vitaly
the e-mails come from over 50 different customers so there is no central view/reporting except the e-mail inbox
Thanks

Hmm... that's interesting. Do you provide your services to remote clients? Have you considered deploying Veeam Availability Console in this scenario? This would give you a single pane of glass to manage jobs of your customers.

Hi Vitaly
I cannot get access to this software as it is for Cloud Service providers and I am unable to register for it on the Veem prop partner Website
Thanks

Clive, can you elaborate on the issue with the VCSP registration form?

Hi Vitaly
From the link you have sent I cannot list a country - I get UNI not found
From the Veeam Pro partner page it sends a request for which I still haven't got a reply
https://propartner.veeam.com/vcsp-resel ... sp-program#/
From the VCSP page https://propartner.veeam.com/registrati ... ls?ref=vac
I cannot get past the first screen
Thanks

Clive, you should now have access to VAC and our private VCSPs forums. Welcome!

Re: Veeam B&R Success messages for failures
Hi Vitaliy
I have been reading through the User/Admin guide prior to deployment.
it looks like this product is aimed at Cloud Providers rather than Service providers
From what I can determine I need:
1) a server with Veeam B&R installed so I can add the Console Server,
2) an SQL server to store data
3) Management agents on remote B&R Servers
4) Cloud connection
This then needs to be configured.
I'm not sure I can justify this to the powers that be...

Hi Clive,
Actually is it vice versa, VAC is focused on MSPs mostly
Thanks!

Correct. This is required to allow remote connection without any VPN to any Veeam B&R server and Veeam Agentsaich365 wrote:1) a server with Veeam B&R installed so I can add the Console Server,
What kind of data do you refer to? VAC is shipped with SQL Server Express that can handle the workload too.aich365 wrote:2) an SQL server to store data
Yes, this is how data collection for monitoring and remote management is done. The same concept is used in all RMM tools.aich365 wrote:3) Management agents on remote B&R Servers
It correlates with point 1. Cloud Connect server is only needed for cloud gateways infrastructure. If you don't want to offer cloud repository and cloud host services, then you don't have to.aich365 wrote:4) Cloud connection
Thanks!

Re: Veeam B&R Success messages for failures
Is Cloud Console required to use Veeam Availability Console? Currently I have a VAC installed on a server that also has B&R 9.5 U3 but can't seem to add a customer. I keep getting an error:
Failed to create new company. Error Details: Management Agent cannot be detected.
Thanks,
Patrick
