B&R_Update3_NoAgents

Post by axel.plaum »

Hello,

descripted in KB2353 there are two different type of Updates. One normal update and one update noagents.
For regulatory reasons we need a detailed description about the differences between the two updates.
Furthermore we need information wether it is possible to use Veeam Endpoint 2.0 with "U3 with noagents" and wether it is possible to switch from noagents to "normal" update at a later time (and vice versa).

Kind regards

Hi and welcome to the community!
For regulatory reasons we need a detailed description about the differences between the two updates.
"No agents" version does not contain agents' redistributables (.msi, .rpm, .deb packages), therefore VBR won't be able to automatically deploy agents onto endpoints. The only intent was to provide users with an option to get lightweight package, because agent files take significant amount of space.
Furthermore we need information wether it is possible to use Veeam Endpoint 2.0 with "U3 with noagents"
Yes, it is possible.
<...>and wether it is possible to switch from noagents to "normal" update at a later time (and vice versa).
To update from "no agents" setup to "agents included" you need to place two .msi files (VALRedist.msi and VAWRedist.msi) into C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup\Packages and install them. After that you'll see additional files to appear in C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Agents subdirectories. To rollback you'll need to uninstall both entities using "Add/Remove programs"

Thanks
