Suppressing Warning Your service provider has implemented...

Post by GregorS »

Your service provider has implemented backup files protection against deletion by an insider for this cloud repository. To protect against advanced attack vectors, we recommend that you configure your cloud backup jobs to keep multiple full backups on disk (as opposed to forever-incremental chain with a single full backup).
OK, I've got the message. Now I want to suppress it. What's the reg key?

What really bothers me is that since 9.5 Update 3 I'm getting e-mail notifications from a backup copy job to a VCC that finished successfully (Success: <all>, Warning: 0, Error: 0). In General Options --> E-mail Settings I've got checked [ ] Notify on success, [X] Notify on warning, [X] Notify on failure.

Regards,
Gregor

Thank you very much! This is for a customer that doesn't have enough space on VCC for multiple full backups...

You're welcome. I still recommend running full backup occasionally to take full advantage of deleted backup files protection feature. Thanks.

All Veeam-specific keys should be applied in HKLM\SOFTWARE\VEEAM\VEEAM BACKUP AND REPLICATION, unless stated otherwise. Thanks.

Does this take a reboot or restarting of any particular services to apply? Thanks!

I kindly ask Veeam to improve the quality of the aforementioned KB2439 by also adding the full registry key path into the article. Less seasoned users will need the full technical information.

Wow man, I'd suggest that you PLEASE consult the best practice guide from Microsoft on how to express registry key...

What's there, not it...

In the bottom of the page you can find KB feedback/suggestion button, using which you can provide your thoughts directly to support team (that is responsible for maintaining KB articles).

@veremin, sorry, when you replied "The KB has been updated", I thought you were the one that updated it.

No, even though we're working sometimes in tight collaboration, it's the support team that manages KB article, so, feel free to submit your feedback to them. Thanks!
