C drive on Replication server is filling up

Post by vman1 »

I noticed that on the C drive there is a folder called backup and under there is a folder called Replicas.
I see folders labeled VM-XX some number dating back to 2014. Can I delete these because they are taking about 70GB?

This folder is used by replication jobs to store replicated VMs metadata. Deleting metadata is safe as it will be recreated, if required, during the next job (which will take a bit longer due to that).

So even the ones dated from 2014 and 2015

Yes, looks like, for some reason, metadata for older replicas has not been cleaned up.

So shouldn't the Veeam system get rid of the old ones?
Can I delete them then since they are so old?

Plus we are only keeping restore pints for 7 days so if I do delete all of the old vm-xx folders, they should not come back again should they?

Veeam doesn't seem to delete replica metadata for jobs where you change the name - maybe a bug?

It normally should, but could fail to do this for some reason - you can investigate with the help of support.

No, only metadata for VMs that are currently being replicated will be calculated.

Need to check - do you see this behavior in your environment?
