[FEATURE REQUEST] Support Paravirtualized VMs

Post by SteveBLGS »

We have a few Linux VMs running on Oracle's OVM hypervisor. The Veeam Agent for Linux documentation indicates that only fully virtualized VMs are supported. Since the OVM hypervisor itself isn't supported, we planned on using the Veeam Agent for Linux. However, it appears this is not possible since they're xen_pvm. Is this a feature already being worked on?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi,

Currently we're not working on this feature as it hasn't been requested much, but thank you for the request!

Thanks

We would also like to request this since paravirtual drives are faster than fully virtualized ones...

Hi Sven,

You request has been noted.
<...>since paravirtual drives are faster than fully virtualized ones...
Out of curiosity, I'd like to ask if you could share your experience on the subject? How big is the difference in performance between HVM and PVM in your case and what kind of workload was that?

Thanks!
