how to Direct San Access backup

If I want to do a Direct san access backup, obviously I need the Veeam backup server to see the Datastore LUN.
Questions:

After I present the LUN's to be visible by the Veeam server, what else needs to be done?
If I open up Disk manager, will it attempt to write a signature to it? That will destroy the datastore.
Is there a walkthrough on how to implement this?
