Looking for some ideas for the following scenario.
Physical SQL Server with production db
VM SQL Server for restoring db and testing
Can I use VAW on the physical server to backup the SQL db to a Veeam repository, then on the VM have a scheduled job that restores the production db from the physical backup?
Anyone have experience with this scenario? Best practices for automation?

Re: Physical SQL Backup / Scheduled Restore
Hello Neil.
May I ask the use case for such automated restore? Are you going to use it to test your backup? Thanks.

Re: Physical SQL Backup / Scheduled Restore
Dima... we run some integrity checks in SQL on the restored backups. And also, it's a refreshed staging DB for development team.

Re: Physical SQL Backup / Scheduled Restore
Thanks for the clarification! From UI perspective there is no way to automate restore process, however there are several PowerShell commands that may help you to automate restore via custom script. For instance check this guide: Start-VBRSQLDatabaseRestore.

Re: Physical SQL Backup / Scheduled Restore
OK great! I'll have our DBA read up on the PowerShell commands.
Will this work on a SQL DB that is backed up using VAW on the physical server?
