Can I copy individual disk backups to tape

Post by Ultra_VM »

I have several monthly backups on disk that I need to copy to tape but the only options I have is copy ALL or LATEST to tape.

I want to be able to pick each monthly full backup from the disk and put it on a separate tape so I can rotate them annually..

Is that possible and If yes how is it done ?

Hi David,

You can use File Backup to Tape Job which lets you choose any files or folders you want to archive on the tapes. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.
So I just backup the individual VBK file for the date I need ?
Do I need the VBM or VIB files too ?

Yes, every VBK is a self sustained backup file that can be restored without any other files.
You can find additional information about backup chain files here.
Please keep in mind you will have only one restore point within each VBK. Thanks!
