This may be a dumb question, but the only information I have yet to find regarding how Veeam 9.5 verifies the success, failure or warning status of backup jobs, involves running a separate SureBackup job.
It is obvious that Veeam does some sort of verification on all backup jobs. Could someone either point me to the proper documentation, or explain the verification process when Veeam backup jobs run?
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Backup jobs: How does Veeam determine success/fail/warni
Hi,
Backup job does not run any verification process by itself, unless you configure health check to start periodically. Success/warning/failure status is set depending on if there were/were not any errors encountered during backup. Some warnings' behaviour is defined by user, for example - you can set AAIP settings to one of the following:
1. "require success" - will give you "fail" if Veeam cannot process your application
2. "try but ignore failures" - will give you warning in the same situation
3. "disable" - won't even try, will give "success", unless the job itself fails for other reasons
Thanks

Re: Backup jobs: How does Veeam determine success/fail/warni
Hi,
If I am understanding your answer correctly, the success/warning/failure is reporting on Veeam processes that are part of the backup job (was CBT used, did application aware processing work, did scripts run, could the VM data be read ...), not validity of the backup file. True validation of a successful backup would need to be done from health checks, and SureBackup jobs, correct?
Thanks,

Yes, exactly.<...> not validity of the backup file. True validation of a successful backup would need to be done from health checks, and SureBackup jobs, correct?
