Insufficient privileges NFS Share

Post by woody »

Hello,

I can't mount my NFS Share in Veeam Agent for Linux. I use Linux Mint (Mate 18.3 mit Kernel 4.13.0-41).
Every time I try to create a backup job and select nfs share I get the message "insufficent privileges to access /tmp/veeam/10.11.11.33:linux."
My device with the 10.11.11.33 is a raspberry pi with OpenMediavault. I created a NFS Share on it with this options: wdelay,insecure,root_squash,all_squash,no_subtree_check,anonuid=0,anongid=0,crossmnt

An experienced user told me this nfs options.
The default options didn't work. This options have worked in the meantime. But now I got the error message.
The right users are set up on both systems.
I tried Ubtuntu as client os. But when I installed Veeam und create the backup job i get the same error message.
I started veeam agent with root rights and normal user rights. The result is the same.

Veeam is a great product and i want to use it.
My research in this forum and in the manual was unsuccessful.
I hope somebody has a good idea.
If you need more information please ask me.

Thank you in advance.

Can you manually mount the NFS share on the server via the mount command?

Try the following:

Code: Select all

mkdir /mnt/veeamtest
mount -t nfs 10.11.11.33:/tmp/veeam /mnt/veeamtest
Does this work?

The error looks like the IP & folder are swapped around in the GUI.

Hi,

The user which is used to access the share has to be able to perform the following operations:

create dir
create file
lock
open file for write
rename
write
delete file
delete dir

It's also worth checking in /var/log/veeam/veeamsvc.log for more details.

Thanks

Hello,

sorry for my late response. Today I noticed that my 2,5" HDD is broken.
OMV can't mount the hdd. I think that the nfs problem was a forecast for the failure. The smb share on the same hdd was working in that time.

Now I tried a 16GB USB 3.0 device. OMV detects the usb device promptly. I created a new nfs share and gave it a try in veeam.
Veeam has accepted the nfs paramters promptly. While the backup was running another failuere was detected.
I havn't enough time to do a further research now. I think this is a problem with the usb device read/write speed.

I will give it another try with a new HDD on friday.
In conclusion: I think the old 2,5" HDD was the problem. On friday I will look at the smart values.
I will keep you up to date :)

The usb docking station was the problem. I changed the station and everything runs well.
I don't know where the failure was in detail.
Thanks for your great support.
