Moving from HyperV to vSphere : required license

Post by syl81 »

Hello,

We are moving from HyperV to vSphere, and we will need to convert our HyperV licenses to vSphere ones (or buy new ones,I don't know yet...)
I am pretty sure I cannot restore HyperV VMs to VMware or individual items from previous HyperV VM to the new vSphere VM, but can I restore old VMs to a HyperV environment with my vsphere license or not ?

Many thanks for your help,
Regards,
Sylvain

Hi,

Veeam provides VM restores functionality free of charge, therefore license is not required. The only exception from that rule is that certain types of restores require a valid license.

Thanks

You're right, you cannot restore HyperV VMs to VMware, but there is a workaround described in the related topic. Thanks!

In any case, license conversion is free of charge.
