Default to local proxy for Full VM Restore?

Hi, is it possible to default a Full VM Restore job to only use the local proxies to where the VM is hosted? Just had to do 3 VMs this morning (leaving the job on automatic selection - the default), and of course the jobs decided to use off site proxies, leaving the VMs restoring at around 2 MB/s over the WAN. (I realise it can be changed on the initial page of the Wizard when selecting the type of restore, but would be nice to change the default behaviour)

Can the default be changed to only use *local* proxies unless otherwise selected? It's the difference between 5 minutes for a restore vs 10 hours ....

Hi Alex.

You can do that with Proxy Affinity feature: it allows you to define a list of backup proxies that can access selected backup repository. Cheers!

Thanks for that . Just for clarification:

Proxy affinity rules are applied for the following types of jobs and tasks that engage backup proxies and repositories:

Backup jobs, including VMware vCloud backup and backup jobs from storage snapshots on primary and target storage arrays
VeeamZIP
VM copy
Entire VM restore
Hard disk restore
Proxy affinity rules are not applied for replication jobs.

Where does a BackupCopy job fall under this? I'm assuming that if I have a job from a remote site to the datacentre, the backup copy job will still function ok, even if the source proxy doesn't have access to the destination repository?

AlexB82,

Backup copy job uses Veeam Data Mover on the gateway server and not proxy server, so proxy affinity feature wont work for backup copy. Cheers!
