public folder migration -> DB to replication partner server

Post by knut-weber »

Hello all,
we recently introduced a new Exchange 2010 public folder server. We have about 13000 public folders and the replication does not work on all items. Indeed, if we restore a single item to the new server, it replicates back and doubled the original item.
My idea was to use a backup from our public folder server, remove all replicas, restore the complete database (which has a different name) to the new server and decomission the old one.
Has anybody an idea if this would work?
We could make the path through complete single item restore, but with 300 GB this would take a long time.
This would be our plan B if we cannot fix the replication issues (which is the job of a different department.)
