Agent for Windows Invalid job configuration

Post by DDP1960 »

I have installed Veeam endpoint or agent for windows as it is called now.
I am getting and error Invalid job configuration. Instance count 0.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it appears the uninstall doesn't clean up properly and leaves a corrupted config file or something that I need to delete or reset.
How can I completely remove Veeam and reload from scratch.
This is a newly configured laptop and was going to be my first backup.

Case ID 02564935
Thanks

Hi Doug,

First: Welcome to the forums

Second: To really do an uninstall you need to delete the database directory which is located (after uninstalling the solution)
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Local DB\Instances\VeeamEndPoint

Another possibility (if already installed now) is to force it to recreate the database:
1. stop service
2. execute regedit. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Endpoint Backup\ and make a new DWORD value recreatedatabase=1
3. restart service
4. delete previously created value (although it might be not there anymore after restarting the service)

Hope it helps
Mike

This worked for me also.
Thank you!

recreatedatabase=1 is reset back to 0 after starting service again.

recreatedatabase=1 is reset back to 0 after starting service again.
That's right, VAW resets the key back to original value after DB was successfully recreated. Cheers!

I had the same issue with a new installation. Recreating the database as you described solved this. Thank you.
