Veeam is not backing up to secondary target

We are new to Veeam. We setup a backup job to included a secondary target. However, the backup job is not sending data to the secondary target. Meanwhile, we created a Backup Copy job that uses the same backup copy target. The backup copy worked. Although, I believe I shouldn't have to setup a separate backup copy job, correct?

I made a backup copy job and then that links through secondary targets. This way you can run the copy job separate, or link it with other stuff if you're doing some fancy scheduling. Not sure what you chose as secondary target as I am pretty sure you have to link a copy job?

You should. Backup job itself doesn't perform backup to a secondary location, it is a backup copy job that does it. In the source backup job you just link the copy job so its source be populated based on the backup job scope and it start monitoring appearing restore points.
