Can Veeam backup NAS device

We have Western Digital WD DX4000 NAS device in our environment.

It comes with Windows 2008 R2 Storage Server Essentials operating system.

We use this NAS as our file server.

Just wondering if we can use our Veeam B&R 8.0 to backup the above NAS device as well ?

Hello,
VBR is a tool to backup Virtual infrastructure, but you can use File Copy job to copy files/folders from NAS device.

Same as the source file or in some Veeam proprietary backup format ?

Technically you can backup files with File Copy and File to tape jobs as was written above, but it's not efficient. What we are working on is a special job for NAS backup.

Agreed - I developed this as a workaround for a situation where a user had a QNAP NAS box with no NDMP support. So although inefficient it was the only solution available with Veeam as things stand.
