ServerOS not compatible to VMware Tools

Post by pitram »

We backup about 400 virtuel machines every day, but there are 2 machines with the error "Guest processing skipped (check VMware Tools status)".
This warning is okay, because on those 2 machines it's not able to install the VMware tools because they are running a very unknown Linux os.

Is it able, to disable the warning about a server which is not running VMware Tools?

I think the backup will still do its job and safe the data of the machine, am I right?

Thank you! :)

Hi Philip,

Welcome to our forums!

If you have a server which is not running the VMware Tools, then you won't be able to do guest processing. It will still protect the image, but not do guest processing inside. One of the things you can do is edit the job and disable guest processing. I believe that should take away the warning

Cheers
Mike

Just a note, you can disable application-aware image processing for these Linux VMs individually.
