Move VMs from one backup job to another backup job
Hi,
I was searching but couldn't find it how to do it (maybe the wording...)
What I want is to move VMs from one backup job to another.
How can I do that?

You cannot move VM backup data from one backup file to the other, unless you restore VM and then back it up anew, this time using required backup job. Thanks.

Re: Move VMs from one backup job to another backup job
Hi v.Eremin,
thanks for the reply.
What I meant to ask is that lets say I have 3 backup jobs (in "Backup & Replication -> job Tool -> Jobs -> Backup)
Group-1 = vm-1 vm-2
Group-2 = vm-3 vm-5
Group-3 = vm4
And I want to move vm-5 from Group-2 to Group-3, is that possible? (group-x = backup job)
thanks for the reply.

Re: Move VMs from one backup job to another backup job
Well you can remove the VM from the first job, and then readd to the second job. However, job 2 will think this is a new VM, and next time it runs it will just do a full backup for that specific VM, even if the job just needs to do an incremental run. The result is an incremental file that might be bigger than you expected.

Re: Move VMs from one backup job to another backup job
Whe remove a VM from one job, and create another job only for that VM. But can´t remap the files of previus job.
We have JOB A ( VM1, VM2,VM3). Then remove the VM3 from that job, and create a JOB2 B ( VM3). Whe copy the files from JOB A, that reference to VM3, but can´t map the job B whit those files.

Then you should be able to map the new job to the copied backup chain, once you rescan the repository it is copied to. Feel free to contact technical support to verify whether you're doing everything right.
