HYPER-V Backup failed

Hello Team,

We are facing issue taking backup on external hard drive of HYPER-V hosted VM's.

I have tried scanning the managed server & got errors Disks & volumes discovery failed error: Disk extents are not specified... Host discovery failed.

Checked the drives its working fine. could you please advise on this..

I have such problem. When I try to make backup or Host discovery, I get an error: Disks and volumes discovery failed Error: Disk extents are not specified for the volume 'D:\'.
I use VeraCrypt to crypt my VM's. I make the crypt container on disk E and set a letter D to this container. May be it's a problem in working Veeam B&R?

Hi bkpusr,

You installed Veeam Backup & Replication (on a physical or virtual server, doesn't really matter at this moment). Then you add your hyper-v host to the managed servers. Is that the first step you took?

Thank for response. I found, that this problem with VeraCrypt, because partitions, created by it, does not work with VSS service.

Yes, I think I understand it now better. VeraCrypt (and others for that matter) have indeed issues with VSS. Not sure if it is still the problem but try running chkdsk on a veracrypt partition... It won't work.

I changed encryption partition to BitLocker and now Veeam R&B works fine.
