How do i count retention points within GFS schema?

Just a simple question which i can't seem to figure and find out: what does a full year mean in terms of backup retention points with a GFS schema in which i want to have 1 year, 4 quarterly and 12 monthly restore points. I assume that the yearly also counts as a quarterly and a monthly, the quarterlies count also as monthly retention points? So i guess i specify the GFS schema as follows: 1 year, 3 quarterly and 8 monthly. Is this correct? Any help would be apprciated. Thanks.

It kind of depends. Is the quarterly and/ or monthly scheduled on the same day? In that case, Veeam Backup & Replication will create only one archive full backup — the monthly (as example) backup. The quarterly or yearly GFS backup will not be created. The file will be flagged as monthly, quarterly and yearly in the file system and in the UI it will receive the highest tier flag (yearly)

Hi Mike, thanks for replying. That's clear. If they are scheduled on the same day at the end of the year i will have 1 YQM, 3 QM en 8 M and the scheduled weekly retention points?
