Hi,
If I have backed up a vm to a tape, and I want to delete that VM from tape, is the only solution to erase the whole tape ?
Thanks for reply.

Re: Remove data from tape
Hi Andreas,
I'm afraid that is the only solution. Can I ask why you need to remove a specific VM (I am kind of guessing for GDPR reasons?)

Re: Remove data from tape
Hi,
Thanks for reply. Yes something like that
Btw, another tape question.... What is the main difference between erase tape slow and fast, is it only that with slow, you are 100% sure that there is no old data on the tape ? If I do not have any problem having old data on the tape, could I just use the Mark as Free when I want to reuse a tape ?

Re: Remove data from tape
So fast means we only erase the headers but the data remains.
Slow means erase everything.
PS: If it is for GDPR, despite common believe... It is not necessary to remove data from backups (imagine doing it on a Worm ). However, you just need to make sure you don't restore that specific VM in production again.
