Feature Request : Archives status reporting

Post by Steven Bricklayer »

Hi,

We are using the "backup copy" feature for medium time archiving.

Veeam allow to choose "monthly" points for exemple.

It's an interesting feature but really complicated to monitor.

You have to check the reports, you don't have an "easy" view like the backup.

The backup copy job are "running" the most of the time.

Also, backup copy jobs can't be used for Sure Backup, and the Veaam.Backup.Validator isn't capable to scan a network share

I wish I add a way to be sure, really fast, that montlhy / annual backup are in a good state.

I was checking that the _m files was existing but it was a bad idea; Veeam keeps the file even it isn't healthy :(

Thanks

+8000000000 for backup copy jobs that can be verified by surebackup. It drives me crazy that this isn't a thing. I get that data is checked at the source (and by the destination upon receiving it) but I don't get why I can't spin up a VM from surebackup offsite if, for example, I wanted to test something not on production. I mean that's half of the reason you would purchase that tier, according to their marketing.

What kind of reports are you searching for? We have a couple of predefined reports in Veeam ONE to report on the backup copy jobs and VMs with archives. Will these (see below) be helpful in your case?
Thank you!
