Post by slaburda »

Can somebody tell me what system permissions on Veeam backup server are necessary? I mean not administrator permissions…
Thank You

Hello Stanislav,

Logging as administrator to B&R server is a necessary condition to perform File Level Restore. FLR is a complex process involving many low-level steps which can be done only with administrator permissions. Thanks!

Stanislav,

May I wonder why don't you want to use administrator account for doing FLR?

If you have a security concern while giving end-users self-FLR capabilities, then you may consider using Universal AIR Wizard which will prevent end-users from "unwanted" interference with the backup server.

If this is the case, then please look through our sticky F.A.Q. topic for further reading about user-directed recovery.

Thanks.

I need separate “Veeam Backup and Restore operators” of “Veeam Administrator”. Unfortunately user in system group Administrator can do with PowerShell all unwanted action (delete and modify backup job, ..)

Stanislav, thanks for your point, but as of now it's impossible to tune permissions in such a way.
