Slow Copy/Paste File Transfer Rate

I have an ESXi 3.5 server (free version) that I am migrating all VMs from to a new vSphere 4.1 (paid) server.

Since Veeam won't let me use replication because of having a free version of ESX I need to use copy/paste of the VM. I am only getting 3MB/Sec on transfer rate.

Both servers are on 1G network and I did a copy on 3.5 server and paste on the 4.1 server. To move an 8GB VM Folder it is going to take an hour.

I have two other VMs that I have to move yet, one is 50GB and the other 300GB.

Thoughts or better way of me doing this?

That's pretty typical file copy speed from ESXi to ESXi which are not a part of the same vCenter. May be just a little lower than usual. I don't think you can do anything here, other than checking you do not have network issue (1Gb failed over to 100Mb on some port/switch). Thanks.

Would you recommend that I file copy to my local machine and then upload that back to the other server?

So download files from 3.5 to local machine, then upload files from local machine to 4.1 server?

No, this will only increase the overall time required to transfer the same files.
