Azure Restore Network Throttling

Post by mcpcwld »

Is it possible to throttle network traffic when doing a backup restore to Microsoft Azure? Is it just a case of creating a new Network Traffic Rule with the Target IP Range of the Azure network/subnet the VM will be connected to?

Yes it is possible to throttle the traffic. You have to use Gateway Server(Azure Proxy) for that purpose.
Thanks!

Hi Nikita,

Could you provide some steps on how to do this, or point me toward any relevant documentation please? I've created the Azure Proxy and logged in to it but I can't see how to go about setting the throttle limit?

Thanks

Presumably the following scenario should work fine:

- Add a static IP for Azure Proxy VM (Azure portal)
- Create a network throttling rule (using production IP range as a source and Azure Proxy VM static IP as a target)

Thanks.

Do I use public IP or private IP on both sites? I have NAT.
