HPE StoreVirtual OS Version 12.7 support

Hi everybody.

I saw in the documentation LeftHand OS versions 9.5 through 12.6 are supported.
Our VAR installed 12.7. Do I avoid Direct SAN at the moment? Will you add support?

Hi Guy, the latest officially supported version is 12.6 and we haven't tested against 12.7.

Keep in mind Direct SAN works with any SAN solution regardless of vendor or OS. However, Backup from Storage Snapshots requires specific support and that's what the documentation is referencing.

Indeed we bought the Enterprise Plus version for the convenience of the Storage Snapshots. The release date of 12.7 was 1/6/2017.
I opened a ticket today (support case ID # 02753785). Support couldn't give me a info when support for this version will be added.

To my surprise support said I should ask for a timeline here in this forum topic.

I placed a support call this week about StoreVirtual 12.7 and storage snapshots and was also referred to this thread for a timeline. In addition, it was confirmed 12.7 is not supported in the latest version 9.5 Update3a for storage snapshots.

We've run basic tests against StoreVirtual 12.7 and can claim it is supported by the current Veeam B&R 9.5 U3a.

As of 28 June 2019, the following No-Term HPE StoreVirtual VSA licenses will reach Discontinuance (DISC) in the End of Life process. They will remain purchasable until 31 December 2019 (OBSO), after which they will no longer be available and will be removed from the HPE Price List and systems. HPE StoreVirtual VSA 2014 systems running with these No-Term licenses will be supported until 31 December 2022 (EOSL).

as there is a newer HPE StoreVirtual OS Version v12.8 available, is this version supported with Veeam 10 also?

Actually we've run a quick regression against it on current Veeam B&R v11 builds and haven't seen any issues, so v11 will support 12.8 officially. Should work for v10 as well, but we haven't performed any tests with it. We're not going to support the next major StoreVirtual/LeftHand OS versions though (version 13.x).

Yes, sorry I meant - tests with v10 and StoreVirtual v12.8. - So there are no concrete plans at the moment and no ETA when it is possible supported.
And i guess an expected release date for v11 cannot be provided as well

Well, our QA was fast: v10 has been smoke-tested against 12.8, and everything looks fine - so we can officially support 12.8 with v10 as well.
