Role based Console

Post by mrholm »

Hi
Are there any plans to incorporate role based console into the product? Most of the backup software in the market has the possibility to setup this and in many cases, this is necessary for Veeam solutions also.
For example, in our company, we have 60 remote offices with local and regional IT support personnel. Our Veeam solution is centrally based so the remote offices only have local proxy with storage.
Today we can't give the local IT personnel rights to ONLY the local backup data so we can't install the Console locally since if they can log into the server they can restore any data. We want to be able to restrict restores to only data that corresponds to that site or proxy.

Hello, web-based self-service backup and restore portal is a part of Update 4.

From RBAC perspective, it can attach to either of:
- Selected vSphere permission
- Selected vSphere role
- vSphere VM tags

Thanks!

Hi
Gostev we like to be able to have the full console installed on remote proxies and let local IT handle administration around "their" Veeam and this include adding VM to job, perform restores and so on.
I'll look into the new web console for the one that exist today is not good enough
