Automatic permanent full backup archive

Post by isaaktnt »

Is there a way to have Veeam make a full monthly backup and archive that to a different folder location. Default settings seems to clean up the backup according to the restore points, so I have no backup past my 14 restore points.

Thanks
Isaak

Hi Isaak, it is certainly a good idea to have a longer term copy of your full backup files. To achieve that, you could set up a separate job with the corresponding schedule and required backup destination to achieve this. Alternatively, you could copy your full backup file from "main" backup job repository periodically. This is what our customers are typically doing when leveraging tape or external hard drives for offsite backup copies. Thanks.

Gostev is there any issue with CBT when backing up 1 VM with two separate jobs as in this scenario?

There are no issues with CBT with any number of jobs. See Veeam B&R FAQ regarding CBT > vStorage API & Changed Block Tracking
