6 Month Tape Backup

Post by RaheelRana »

Hello,

Backup job -
Incremental: Restore Point = 7

Backup Copy Job -
Target --> Backup Job
Restore points = 2
Weekly = 4
Monthly = 3
Quarterly = 2

Licensing - Standard
Env - VMware

If I file copy the last quarterly full backup .vbk file to tape and delete from disks dose this mean I have 6 months of data archived to tape?
To restore, copy the .vbk file back to disks?

Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the community.

You will have 1 restore point of 6 months ago, not 6 months of data.
To restore, copy the .vbk file back to disks?
You can leverage direct restore from tape feature.

Thank you Shestakov.

so to keep 6 months of restore points, I should change the monthly restore points to 6 and copy those to tape?

direct restore from tape is available in standard license?

Yes, I would also suggest using backup-to-tape instead of file-to-tape job.

Yes.
