Offside Backup

Post by lanwolf »

Hi,
now i ran a offsite Backup over a 100Mbit link over WAN (VPN). The speed is good for incremental backups.
We only want to backup the backups in a case of disater (fire, water, etc.). So at the offsite place, there are no productiv servers.

The problem is the merging the backups. It is not realy usabel over the link.
Can i install a backupproxy? So the productiv side copy the backups to the offsite system and on the offsite system starts the merging process.

I can not find andy information about this.

Backup now:
VMWare --> Veeam --> Backup Repositorie --> Tape
Veeam Backup Copy Job --> Backup Repositorie on the offsite system

I guess you use a CIFS share as backup target on the second site.

When you add a CIFS share to Veeam you can select a Gateway Server that process the synthetic processing and do additional stuff.
This Server should be selected on the same site as the CIFS share.
So you need to add a windows server on second site, and then add it as Gateway Server at Repository Wizard.
