Hi guys,
I had a ESXi host fail hard, and I'm trying to restore the handful of VMs to a new location. Veeam insists on shutting down the servers, but the job fails because it can't communicate with the remote host since it is disconnected.
How do I get around this?
Thanks.

Re: ESXi host failed, can't restore because VMs were powered on
have you tried - 'Restore to a new location, or with different setting?'
if so, and still failed, see here also - https://www.veeam.com/kb1880
could be a hardware version mismatch.

Right, it does look like you're trying to restore to original location.
