Feature request - enhanced cpu load monitoring

Post by lando_uk »

Hi
On the VM CPU monitoring alert, it would be great if there was an option to tell you what the offending process is/was that is consuming CPU.

My example is a reoccurring cpu spike in the night, and i have to go and setup perfmon traces just to see what process is causing it, it would be good if that was in the normal alert.

I realise this would need wmi credentials or an agent like scom, but might be useful to some people.

Thanks.

Hi Mark,
Process performance monitoring is going to be added in the upcoming release.
How many virtual machines do you monitor? Note that persistent connection to guest OS is needed.
Thanks

About 350 VMs for us.
Having Veeam One DB tracing hundreds of VMs and their processes i would think would have a heavy tole on the server. Rather than a persistent connection, maybe the processor explorer could connect when the alert triggers?

As part of the email report, maybe list top 5 processes in the info.

Our tests show that processes of 350 VMs can be monitored with no issues.

Do you mean once CPU usage of VM is high, Veeam ONE can connect to the guest and find out what are the heaviest processes? I like the idea.

That's exactly what i mean. It could be a tick box on the alert config, - Use service account "domain/srv-account` to check and report top processes.
