ReFS and cleanup scheduled tasks

Post by b.vanhaastrecht »

Hello,

We want to maximize a Windows 2016 repository performance. We notice all kinds of Windows disk/cleanup scheduled tasks triggered at night during the backup window.

Code: Select all

PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-ScheduledTask | Where-Object -Property Description -Match "maint" | Get-ScheduledTaskInfo |
Select-Object -Property TaskName, LastRunTime

TaskName LastRunTime
-------- -----------
DsSvcCleanup 26-1-2019 01:27:27
Scheduled 26-1-2019 01:27:27
SilentCleanup 26-1-2019 06:27:27
Windows Defender Cache Maintenance 26-1-2019 01:27:27
Some take a few hours to run, so they are impacting performance in some way. Does anyone have experiance with this? They do not have a Trigger configured so something else is triggering them, havent found a way to change this.

Regards,
Bastiaan

I found this: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance\Automatic Maintenance

GPO: PolicyName > computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows components > Maintenance Scheduler

It's default set to 2:00, I have changed it to 10:00 and see if this moves the nightly tasks to the set time.
