Sure backups - Without using a data store

Post by Iain_Green »

Hi,

I am trying to configure a simple sure backup, no application group. Its just link to an existing backup to perform the standard verification test and check the backup data blocks.
I had thought sure backups did NOT require a data store, but you could if you wanted to, configure the job to write changes to the data store.
Otherwise, it would run from the repository storage, like an instant VM recovery..

However, on testing, the job fails to power on the VMs error:
31/01/2019 13:40:59 Error: Failed to extend swap file from 0 KB to 16777216 KB.
This appears to be due to the data store on the virtual lab not being big enough to house it. As I have assigned a tiny data store to it as I thought it was not going to be used.
Is there a way not to use the data store (guessing no, as I appear not to be able to locate any settings for this!)?
Many thanks

Hi, Ian - starting from 9.5 Update 4, there's an option in the Virtual Lab settings not to use a datastore. Thanks!
