Disable daily Scale-out E-Mails?

Post by ASG »

Hi,

after upgrading to 9.4 we get daily e-mails for each of our scale-out repositorys. Is it possible to disable this or at least set this to weekly instead of daily? I've searched but couldn't find the switch.

Thanks!

Hi ASG,

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4

Unfortunately, these emails are being sent on a daily basis at 09.00 AM after you enable the Global Email Notification Settings. (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4)
Unless you change those (which you probably don't want to do, the best I can advice you is to make an outlook rule for it and store them in a separate folder for weekly review

Sorry

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply - maybe adding an enable/disable switch would be a way in a future version - U3 worked pretty good without 3 E-Mails a day (as we have 3 SOBR) ;-)

Thanks anyways, as I'm not using Outlook there is no way for me to simply mark the mails read by a rule - guess I'll have to get used to 3 more daily E-Mails (that are rather useless in my case)

You can disable SOBR daily report via registry:

Code: Select all

SOBRDisableEmailReport <DWORD>
Thanks!

Hey, Thanks a lot! I'll give it a try when I'm able to restart the Backup server.

Great, let us know about the results.

By the way, if you still want to get this report from time to time, you can generate it via Send-VBRScaleOutBackupRepositoryReport cmdlet.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the registry Key Vladimir, it worked as expected: No Mails at 09:00 :-)
Tried the cmdlet to get some info when we need it.

Glad to hear that my input was helpful.

If you want to get this report on weekly basis, the best idea will be to schedule script execution via Windows Task Scheduler.

Thanks!

To be sure, i have to create SOBRDisableEmailReport under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VeeaM\Veeam Backup and Replication" and then restart the Veeam B&R service ?

I keep getting success (green) scale-out repository notifications even though notifications in general settings set: "Notify on failure" and "Suppress notification until the last reply" only.
I don't want to disable them completely like it is offered above, any ideas?

I didn't want the daily report either. Thanks for providing this information!

Is there a reference for all registry 'hacks' that are supported in 9.5u4?

@billcouper,
There is not a specific reference about these hacks

@MVV:
First: Welcome to the forums
Second: What did you exactly check? Notify on Warning + Notify on Error and Suppress notifications until last retry? If so, I think that should do the trick. Might be an issue on our side so if your settings are correct, please log a support case and post the support case ID (and outcome after investigation) here

@Mike Resseler,

First: Thank you. Actually, I am not new on the forum, just had to change my Veeam account recently because the previous one is assigned to an ex-job mail domain.

Second: As I mentioned in my original post: Even though the only general notification settings set are: "Notify on failure" and "Suppress notification until the last reply" I keep getting success (green) scale-out repository daily reports.

Of course I can raise a case to support, but I reckon raising a case in this thread also makes sense, may be someone got same issue after getting U4 installed.

Raising a case in this thread makes sense when we indeed have the answer for it. But in this case I don't have (maybe someone else did but...). Which means most likely logs will need to be looked into and that is something we can't do on these forums I'm afraid

I have had the same settings (No E-Mails on success) and kept getting the Notifications for the SOBR - after adding the RegKey above this no longer happens.

MVV: the SOBRDisableEmailReport registry value does ONLY disable the SORB(Scale Out Backup Repository) mails. Isn't that what you want?

I think MVV is after receiving the report only in case of failure (not disabling it completely).

Anyway, the fact that SOBR report doesn't respect global notification settings is bug that will be fixed in one of the next product updates.

Thanks!

Hey Parth,

Here is a big discussion with the workaround provided at the beginning of the thread. Thanks!

+1
Please add this feature so we can modify Scale-out Backup Repository email notifications. I only want to be notified of warnings and errors but I don't want all emails disabled or all SOBR emails disabled.

Thank you!
Thank you,

[MERGED] new scale-out reports since upgrade to 9.5U4

Post by cxwsrei »

This is a question to veeam support :
since the upgrade to 9.5U4 I get daily a status report from all backup servers where a scale-out repository is defined.
This is according https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4 as far as I can see.
But I setup all veem servers that I get ONLY warnings or failures - no success messages/reports.
I don´t like my mailbox to be "spammed" respectively the status of all that hs been successful is monitore via veeam Enterprise manager.
As far as I can see I cannot suppress this daily scle-out report.
This is not corresponding to the reporting manner of all other processes on BR9.5 from my point of view.
1) can it be suppressed anyhow ? (regkey or similar)
2) @veeam: please make it configurable in the future.

Kind regards

I'm sure you could block it at your mail client.

But yeah... it does look like you can't turn them off. :(

Have a look at this thread to disable the SOBR spam: veeam-backup-replication-f2/disable-dai ... ml#p313223

In short, you'll need to create a registry key.
