Hi, Sunil - if you mean Scality RING, then we tested it internally, but not on a large scale. One important requirement is that you must have version 7.4.2 or later for Veeam compatibility. Thanks!

Hi Gostev,

Thanks for your reply.. Was it only a test you performed? Do you have any suggestions for me?

My case:

I mounted the simple storage coming from SCALITY RING on a Linux machine and added the mount point as a Backup Repository on VEEAM. I ran some backups to this repo and was getting a transfer speed of around ~100 mb/s. Need to perform some other tests before being deployed into production.

Thanks,
Sunil

Yes, it was just a basic API compatibility test, nothing more... so unfortunately, I cannot offer any real-world usage knowledge at this time.

In fact, you'll likely be one of the first users about to do a production deployment with Scality, so I'd be very interested to learn about your experience! This way, I will be able to help other users with an advice in the future :D

Hi Sunil,

Can you update with your test result integrating with Scality, I am working on an opportunity where scality will be used as a LTR.

Any update on this?
I am considering using Scality RING for both primary and secondary backup repositories (backup jobs and backup copy jobs respectively).

Scality tested their RING solution with both Veeam Ready Archive and Veeam Ready Object for VBR 9.5.

RING didn't pass the Veeam Ready Repository tests due to performance limitations, so we don't recommend RING as being a primary backup (Performance Tier) repository. They did pass the Veeam Ready Object and Veeam Ready Archive tests so they can be recommended for the Capacity Tier, as a target for backup copy jobs.

Scality will be retesting with v10 and I recommend you check our Veeam Ready site https://www.veeam.com/ready.html in the future to see what tests they pass.

Does veeam support the immutability over scality repository?

Hello,
it's the object storage vendor that has to implement the S3 API including "ObjectLock" functionality. Veeam then works based on the S3 API.

Scality is on the list for S3 ObjectStorage with immutability, yes. Also available in the knowledge base alliance partner list

Best regards,
Hannes
