Upgrading Free endpoint licences to Managed

Post by AlexB82 »

Hi everyone,
We currently use VBR for all our virtual servers, and use the repos to store the backups of some of our endpoints using the free licence. We're looking to upgrade to the managed licences for better control through the VBR console, and to set protection groups etc.

If we start using managed licences, will we get notifications on whether a job has failed/warn/success like with the VM jobs?
Will the licences automatically be pushed out via the VBR console or will they require installation/config on the endpoints? Is there any other config that will need to be done once the licences are bought?

Thanks !!

Hi Alex,

Can you provide the details about your environment: how many VMs you have, what version of Veeam B&R you use and so on...
It is possible that the Veeam B&R Community Edition might cover all your needs.

Yes, there are the same settings as for the regular VM backup job > Notification Settings for Veeam Agent Backup Job and Notification Settings for Backup Policy

They will be pushed to all Agents managed by your Veeam B&R server.

No, but there are two types of agent management. Just select the type that fits your needs better > Select Job Mode

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick replies both :)

Dmitry - we're running VBR Enterprise Plus, and ultimately looking at around 100 Endpoints, so community edition won't be enough.
