Port 10001 or 10005?

Post by evilaedmin »

Agent management guide lists port 10005 agent -> VBR server.

VAW guide lists port 10001 agent -> VBR server.

Are both needed?

Hi,
thanks for bringing this up - I'll check with the documentation team.

Best regards,

evilaedmin,

Are you using standalone agent or agent managed by backup server? Thanks!

@Dima, I want to create jobs and schedules on the VBR server, for clients where the agent was deployed either manually or via ConfigMgr.

Noted, in order to use agent managed by backup server you should create protection group for the desired scope of machines and deploy agents via Veeam B&R server. Next step would be to configure backup job (which in you case can be managed by agent). For such setup you would need to keep port 10005 opened as was mentioned in Agent Management guide. Cheers!

Dima,

I am still trying to rephrase my question:

I do not wish to manage agents via VB&R (I interpret this to mean deploy or control status of install).

I do wish to create jobs and schedules via VB&R for Agents which I have installed using SCCM.

Is there a way to accomplish this last part without giving Deployment Server -> Agent ports such as 139,445 to the Agent machine?

Makes a lot of sense... or not.

Hello,

yes, that should work. The ports you mention are only for distribution. If you distribute with SCCM (whitepaper), those ports are not needed.

Best regards,
Hannes
