Feature request: Job report from set period of time
Hi,
Pulling out a job report from VBR console takes ever increasingly amount of time, over 5mins on my server at the moment. I guess this is because it includes every run of the job on the report since the day one.
I'd like to have an option for get the report for the last week/month/x amount of days. I usually only need couple of weeks of history and would not like to wait 5mins every time for that.

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
Most likely the report will not appear in VBR as monitoring, management and reporting is performed by Veeam ONE.
Nevertheless your feedback is taken into account.
Thanks!

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
I'm fine with a "long" report, if it just would generate faster.

Doesn't seem that bad, but I'll ask developers if they can speed it up.

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
Roughly 20 VMs.
The physical server has 2x 4core xeon (although pretty old xeons) and 48gb mem, so resources should not be the problem. I will check disk I/O / performance later, to see if it could cause this.
E: During the report creation mem consumption stays ~25%, cpu usage ~10%, occassionally spiking at 20%, disk queue stays below 0.10, most of the time below 0.05.

Thanks for the info. How about other reports, do they generate fast enough?

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
If by "other reports" you mean reports from other jobs, it varies. For example, 2 weeks ago I created a new job, it will produces a report instantly.
Running a report on a job that has been running ~year, will take again over 5mins.

I meant reports besides Backup Job Historical Information report. Curious if you find them working fast enough.

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
It takes ages because it pulls out every session from the database and puts it inside a beautiful html file. It would be awesome if it would go faster, but what about to define the time where i want the report to be generated.
Click on the Button -> Dropdown Menu appears -> "Full Report" or "Specific Time" -> Specific Time -> From XX.XX.XXXX to XX.XX.XXXX -> "Generate"
That would be awesome. Most of the time my customers don't need a full report. Just the last few days or weeks. In a beautiful format which can be send per e-Mail.
This way the data which needs to be pulled out of the database would be significantly less because it just needs fewer data to generate the data.
One customer waits about 15-20 minutes to have generated the report for one specific job. In that time the shell is not useable (which is also not sooooo good).
Regards
Maurice

Hi Maurice,
Could you elaborate which reports takes too long(with numbers)? By the way, what product version are you at? We made big improvements in latest releases. It takes ages because it pulls out every session from the database and puts it inside a beautiful html file.
You can leverage report scheduling mechanism. It would be awesome if it would go faster, but what about to define the time where i want the report to be generated.

It's in Veeam ONE, you go to Reporter and in Veeam Backup Monitoring report pack find the report.
Thanks

it's about the reports of Backup Jobs and for a job which runs for years now it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to generate the html report (because it pulls out of the db every session since 54 weeks ago). In this time the GUI is not useable and i need to open a new one to go on working.
The customer does not have Veeam One. So i have to work with what i have.

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
10-15 minutes is not instant, but not that long, especially if you set interval = 54 weeks. Such duration is normal for some jobs, so it's good to know exact report names.
How many backup servers, jobs and VMs are present in the reports?
Thanks!

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
I think there's actually option to show only x number of sessions in the backup report, but it does not seem to be working.
Tried setting options -> history -> show only last [5] sessions, but backup report still shows all the sessions.

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
It's not that long, but there is no hint how long it would take, etc. The GUI just goes "Not Responding" and thats it. Many customers of ours are confused by it and don't know if it's generating or just not working anymore. Why not showing a window like "Generating Report. Please Wait... Estimated Time Remaining: x minutes". Having an option where i can set the time window for that report would still be awesome, too. Sometimes i just care for a specific time window and not for the session report 54 weeks ago.Shestakov wrote: ↑Feb 12, 2019 3:37 pm 10-15 minutes is not instant, but not that long, especially if you set interval = 54 weeks. This option just limits the sessions shown in the GUI. It has nothing to do with the Report Generation itself.

Re: Feature request: Job report from set period of time
It shouldn't go to "not responding", but show "loading". If you see "not responding", please contact the support team. "Estimated time" makes sense as well as more friendly message than just "loading", we will take it into account. Hi,
reporting is still operated by Veeam ONE. However from the time of your first post Veeam introduced community edition licensing which provides basic capabilities in free product editions. So you can check the mentioned Veeam ONE reports in the free product version now.
Thanks
