What is "Unexporting storage snapshots"?

We are running Veeam 9.5 Update 4 with Nimble storage integration against ESXi 6.7 Update 1. During backup and replication jobs towards the end is where we see "Deleting storage snapshot". Right before this is the step "Unexporting storage snapshots" that takes about 6 minutes to complete.

1. What is this step doing?
2. Why does it take so long?

for question one I can say that it is step 7 described here

But I cannot answer the question why it takes that long. I can only suggest to contact support. Please post the case number here.
