[v3 BETA] OneDrive Backup Fails, exceeds the list view threshold

Post by Windos »

In preparation for trying out testing out the including and excluding of specified OneDrive folders, I added a new folder to my OneDrive and dumped some data into it.

This data has synced and looking OK up in Office 365.

Since then, the backup job that's been running fine for a day or so now starting failing (only on my object). The error is:

Code: Select all

19/02/2019 9:56:45 AM :: Failed to process OneDrive: Joshua King (https://REDACTED-my.sharepoint.com/personal/joshuak_REDACTED). The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator. :: 0:00:08
There's now 4992 files, and 374 folders within my OneDrive. I'm wondering if the API is hitting a limit at 5,000 total items?

I'll try removing some files and see if it comes right.

Hi Josh,

First: Welcome to the forums!
Second: I am doubting whether this is a O365 setting or an issue with us. Because I do believe we tested with over 5000 items. Could you export the logs, share them on a dropbox/ onedrive/ google drive/ (pick your own favorite sharing mechanism) and DM me the link? I will get those to the development team

Thanks
Mike

Cheers for the welcome, Mike!

I was curious about this and ended up deleting items in my OneDrive until I got to the point that I had exactly 4,999 items and the next incremental ran perfectly.

Also started to have a look through the OneDrive and SharePoint admin portals on 365, but nothing jumped out.

Hey Josh,

I sent the information to our DEV and QC team.
In the meantime, I found this: https://support.office.com/en-us/articl ... 830be9e9ca

Since OneDrive for Business is essentially a SharePoint document library with a specific view, the 5000 might be indeed causing the problem. But I will let our engineers look further into it and see what they can do.

Hey Josh,

Update: It looks indeed like a bug. Our team has succeeded in recreating the issue. They are already thinking about a possible solution for it
Thanks for all the testing and letting us know!

Hope it helps
