Feature request: more granular roles

Post by marama »

Hi.

We have multiple VMs and we have multiple users in charge of those VMs. We need to be able to give the users permissions to restore specific backup jobs (or VMs within). We need to be in compliance and not give every developer access to all the backup data.

Also, we have a lot of Mac users, remote desktop or Parallels is not very conveniant. Maybe Veeam considers to switch to Web-Console.

Hi Marama, you can do this via the Enterprise Manager already so you can give them access to specific virtual machines. Additionally, Update 4, which will be available January 22, has an improvement on self-service options via vSphere.

Hi,

Niels you are right - almost. This is true for normal VM's.
But specifically for Exchange, you can't do the same type of restores in EM as in VBR with Veeam Explorer for MS Exchange. This would be a very welcome improvement if you could start Veeam Explorer restore trough EM.
So I can give all available restore options to Exchange admin, so he can do everything regarding exchange without Veeam admin trough EM.
