NetApp export rules that Veeam Backup & Replication adds

Post by Tos »

Hi

Our customer have question NetApp export rules that Veeam Backup & Replication adds.

By following document, they understand that when they perform restore from NetApp storage snapshot by using Veeam, Veeam Backup & Replication adds its export rules for the storage.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4

They anticipated that NFS IP addresses will be added. But, as a result of checking export rules, the IP addresses that are only used for vMotion were also added. They do not know why this is added….

Is it also by design ?
If you can, please let me know the detailed specification of export rules that Veeam Backup & Replication adds.

Hi Kobayashi-san,

You can uncheck "Create required NFS export rules automatically" in case you want to manage storage export rules manually.
Since Veeam export rules have been added you should clean them from the storage prior the next backup\restore\rescan.

Depending on initiated operation Veeam adds all necessary IP addresses and set permissions required.
E.g. for backup: proxy IP with the read only access, for rescan the same as backup, for restore: ESXi IP with the read\write permissions. Thanks!
