Server 2016 Deduplication with Veeam 9.5 U4

Post by paps40 »

I recently implemented a new physical veeam server running server 2016 latest build and veeam 9.5 U4. I am looking for some server 2016 deduplication best practices on the veeam setup and microsoft settings. Questions are below.

1. Can you run server 2016 deduplication on volumes larger than 64 TB? My volume is 120 TB only used for Veeam Backups.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... /whats-new

2. Is there an updated article similar to this one below?
Best Practice for MS Server 2012 DeDup Repo

3. Is there an updated veeam best practices article?

4. Is there an updated blog post? Are these settings still recommended?
Data deduplication using both Windows Server 2016 and Veeam

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello Pete,
1) your link mentions that deduplication works up to 64TB. Veeam cannot change that :-)
In Windows Server 2016, Data Deduplication supports volume sizes up to 64 TB.
2) nothing changed on that

3) it's up-to-date

4) it's up-to-date

Summary: Nothing changed from Veeam side.

Best regards,
Hannes
