Creating an Additional Full Backup - Best Method?

Post by MomSpaghettiii »

Hello,

We have a backup job that has 10 servers in it, but we are doing some maintenance where I only want a full backup of 3 of those servers in that job. Is the best approach to create a new job which includes those 3 servers, then just run an Active Full on the new job? If so, does that break the backup chain for the old job with all 10 servers in it?

Thanks.

No, having additional job for those 3 VMs won't break anything for existing setup. By the way, if you want to have an independent full backup of those VMs, consider using VeeamZIP feature for that. Thanks!

Thanks, I appreciate the reply and will definitely look into VeeamZIP.

You could also create a "backup copy" job and just select those 3 VM's from the current backup. The advantage is that it won't touch production(cause any additional "load" outside of the normal backup window).
