Question regarding Health Check on Backup Copy job

Hi,

We have a backup copy job, that runs health check every quarter. The health check runs for a week almost, which causes a lot of alarms, as the daily backup copy job is failing meanwhile, so I'm looking for alternatives.

The backups that this Backup Copy job stores elsewhere all have Active Full enabled. Does this mean I don't really need to run the health check at all? I can't find an Active Full option for the Backup Copy job itself though.

Hey Rasmus,

You can use Surebackup job for recovery verification, it's the recommended approach.
With the periodic active fulls on the source side you can live without health checks, but the data corruption in the most cases is the matter of storage failure, that's the main reason why it would be better to check the consistency of backup files from time to time.

You can find the check box on the Target step of the wizard "Read the entire restore point from the source ..." - by checking it you will get periodic active fulls.

I want to underline that the storage failure is the top issue for the data corruption and without periodic active fulls for the backup copy job, I wouldn't recommend to disable health check.
It's crucial to make sure the restore points that were retained for a period of time in the offsite are valid\recoverable. Thanks!

Thanks, but I checked and we are using the active full option, so I've disabled the health check now.
